Aurora Presbyterian Church | About Us
Aurora Presbyterian Church is a congregation of Christ’s Church. With Christians everywhere we believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We believe that Jesus shows and tells us what we need to know about God and ourselves and offers us a personal relationship with him through the Holy Spirit. We listen to God’s word in the Bible as it witnesses to Jesus and the life he offers us. We believe a faithful summary of the Bible’s central teaching can be found in The Apostle’s Creed. We respond with thanksgiving and praise to the God we find in Jesus Christ in worship and prayer.
Aurora Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA. Originally a non-denominational community church, we are now part of a Presbyterian denomination. Presbyterians strive to connect the life of the mind with the love of the heart and to do all things for the glory of God.
The Presbyterian Church USA is a “big tent” with people from many backgrounds with diverse understandings of who Jesus is and what it means to be a Christian. At the same time, we agree that he is our Lord and Savior and our unity can withstand loving debate. We consider the Presbyterian Church to be a denomination which means that we believe that there are other denominations that are also Christian. We don't claim that the Presbyterian understanding is entirely correct or the only way. In fact, we recognize that we are mistaken in many of our beliefs and seek to always be reformed by God according to the Word (which is Jesus and the Bible). In the meantime we strive to work alongside other congregations from other denominations. Currently we partner with Lutherans, Baptists, Free Church and Mennonite Christians to serve the Northern end of Marion County.
Aurora Presbyterian Church is a congregation in Aurora, Oregon. Our membership comes primarily (but not exclusively) from Aurora, Canby and Wilsonville. We seek to partner with all Christians in the area to serve Jesus and the world that God loves through worship, sharing the good news about Jesus and offering our resources to implement the Kingdom which Jesus started with his death and resurrection. Our church began in 1889 as a Sunday School for Children. By 1904, a congregation had formed and chartered as Presbyterian. Services were held once a month for a short time.
